Recently when I went to play Far Cry 4, it would just kept crashing on startup. I read online that by disabling Uplay's ingame overlay it would remove the bug, but this did not help. The situation got stranger and even more annoying when I realized that Far Cry 3 and Assassin's creed Black Flag, both games that I have bought through Steam but for some annoying reason require Uplay, would not start either (note: Watch_Dogs, which was bought on Steam and uses Uplay does work). I have tried verifying the files but I still run into the same issue. Does anyone know of any fixes for this?

The first thing you should try, when having slow download speed or disconnects, is connect to an ethernet cable if you are not already. If you are, consider trying a different cable, restart your router or even your machine. When you unplug your router, leave it this way for a few minutes before you plug it back in.

If the issues with downloading are more serious, you may need professional help. Ubisoft has an official guide for you to try when you are experiencing troubles installing and/or updating your game via their PC client Uplay. The key things to do are run Uplay as admin, turn off Windows Firewall, make sure you have enough free space on your hard drive, check if you can run selective startup and more. Here are the steps you can take to fix that:

1. Click the menu icon in the upper left hand corner2. Select Settings3. Click on the Downloads tab4. Under the Bandwidth Usage Limit move the slide bar to 2MB/s or lower.5. Try downloading the game again.

If you are having troubles downloading the French (or any other) language pack for the game from the Microsoft store for the Xbox One version, you may want to know that this is a known issue. This has been reported on the Ubisoft forums and should be updated very soon.

Now, how to fix uplay connection error? Uplay can throw multiple errors and each has a specific fix. We have compiled a list of the most common errors and their fixes. Go to try these solutions below to fix Uplay connection lost.

The last method to fix uplay connection error is to Reinstall Ubisoft Connect PC. First, go to the control panel search Ubisoft and uninstall the software with all files (delete all files). After that restart your system and reinstall the Ubisoft Connect PC.

In most cases, UplayWebCore.exe file problems are due to the file missing or being corrupted (malware / virus) and often seen at South Park: The Fractured but Whole program startup. File replacement is typically the best and easiest way to resolve errors related to EXE files. As a last measure, we recommend using a registry cleaner to repair any invalid UplayWebCore.exe, EXE file extension, and other file path references which could be causing the error message.

Usually UplayWebCore.exe errors with South Park: The Fractured but Whole happen during startup or shutdown, while UplayWebCore.exe related programs are running, or rarely during the OS update sequence. Recording UplayWebCore.exe errors inside South Park: The Fractured but Whole is crucial to locate Game,Game,Videogame faults and relaying back to Ubisoft for repair options.

It gets worse and worse every new season for me and if I write a ticket they just say it is my ISP but if I download something from Uplay or steam I get 8-9 mb a sec and if I download from microsoft store I get 40-50 mb a sec. I have now stoipped buying skins for warzone until they sort this out

I have the same problem, I have 40mb/s connection, but COD update download speed is 300kb/s. I even can not disable update and must wait 2 days to play. Are you crazy. If you have shit servers, the disable updates by country or region, to limit total connection. But It seems you just do not care

The new Game Fire update is available for both Free and Pro editions. You can download it directly from Game Fire download page, or use the Game Fire updater app included in the Pro edition to download and deploy the new update quickly.

If you notice that a Steam download is sluggish, here is the first thing you should do. Always compare the download speed on Steam with some other site or app. For example, you can launch Uplay, Blizzard Battlenet, Origin, Epic Games Launcher, etc., and observe your download speed on those platforms.

A clean install is equal to updating the Steam client to the latest version. Sometimes these updates mess up many things, including the download speed. Valve also warns its users to be careful with third-party apps, such as antivirus, firewall, VPN, security, and other software.

Sometimes, there is simply nothing you can do to speed up Steam downloads. If none of the advice we gave you works, there is probably no fixing this issue. All that you can do is let it go. Play something else if you can while allowing Steam to run in the background.

A special important note: ensure you've set Ubisoft Connect to minimize when closed in the settings. In Gaming Mode on the Steam Deck, you need to quickly close Ubisoft Connect once you hit Play on a game, otherwise Gamescope (the SteamOS compositor) gets confused on what to display and madly flashes between the launcher and the game. A problem shared by many launchers right now. UPDATE: thanks to a comment, you can get Ubisoft Connect to auto-launch a specific game by adding uplay://launch/*gameID*/0 to the end of your Steam launch options for the app (ID list here) which gets around the flashing issue but only works for a specific game at a time.

As with any video card-related issue, the very first course of action is to download the GPU manufacturer's latest drivers. NVidia just released 337.88 beta (we wrote about it here), which adds new SLI profiles for Watch Dogs and aims to smooth performance overall. Unfortunately, there's still some prevalence of microstuttering in SLI and overall poor performance. Disabling SLI and running single-card may actually yield a better experience (albeit at slightly lower settings) by eliminating microstuttering and tearing issues.

Ubisoft's Uplay has never been particularly successful in, well, just about anything it's tried to do. This persists with Watch Dogs, where even attempting to download or play the game can throw what is called an 'unrecoverable error.' These errors coincide with Uplay's recent downtime and inability to connect to authentication servers, and unfortunately, there's no solution for it. Ubisoft said in a statement:

Install the latest client by opening this link and clicking the Download now button at the top-right corner. Afterward, reopen the Uplay client and check to see if the problematic error message appears when trying to download anything by the client!

Verifying the game files of the game you are struggling to install is quite useful. It can circumvent the actual download by checking to see if all files are available and, if not, download them automatically. Users were able to resolve their issues in this manner so make sure you check this solution out!

-uplay_r1_loader64.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

Like, I have a small Steam library, by comparison to some. I have like, 87 games or some such. Most of which I have never installed or played, but that is another discussion. Anyway, I paid for those games, and while Steam exists, I can theoretically download and install and play, any of them. I say theoretically, because at least out of the box a bunch of them are literally broken and in need of community patches to get working, but whatever. Anyways, I doubt I will be able to, in the minutes or hours before Steam shuts down, download and install every game I own. I doubt I would have the hard drive space to contain them if I tried, though I possibly might. But yeah, not going to happen, especially since every Steam user ever will be possibly doing the same thing at that time, and the servers will face the biggest stress test ever seen.
